Research, Training and Consultancies

Elder Law at UWS provides training, research and consultancies to the aged care sector, these include:-
- training for staff in aged care facilities in areas such as duty of care, documentation, substitute decision making and elder abuse;
- community presentations on the legal needs of older persons, including powers of attorney, enduring guardianship, advance care directives, accommodation needs;
- research into access to justice for older persons and financial abuse of seniors;
- development of guidelines for medical practitioners for the assessment of mental capacity;
- we also work closely with a number of organisations whose focus is on the welfare of seniors; and
- undertake government consultancies.
